Born in 1956 and living in North Derbyshire, close to the Peak District National Park, still my favourite local stomping ground, and where my enthusiasm for landscape and wildlife photography grew from many weekends spent hiking the moors and dales.
I have a stock of over 10,000 high-quality images, covering our National Parks, National Nature Reserves, the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and many other areas of wilderness Britain. Though still working mainly in the British Isles, recent trips to New Zealand and Kenya produced some different images and enough memories to last a lifetime. Exclusively Canon, but now totally digital, all stock is the highest quality Raw or Tiff images.
I now offer One-to-One Landscape Photography Days in and around the Peak District or beyond! Message me for more information.
In what now seems another life, my lucky break came when I was put forward as the photographic author for the book "Anthony Hopkins' Snowdonia", produced in conjunction with the National Trust Snowdonia Appeal. There then came two further books; "The Yorkshire Dales" with writer and broadcaster Richard Mabey (Food for Free, Flora Britannica, Nature Cure), and "England - The Nature of the Land" a celebration of the English National Nature Reserves, in collaboration with Natural England. As a result of this, some photographs also featured on the BBC Countryfile program while I chatted with John Craven!
I have been a landscape photographer for so long that many of my images were taken on film and have therefore been converted to digital. During this process, they have carried with them the graininess of the original slide, which seems to have been enhanced by the clarity of digital imagery! Still, I make no apologies for this, many of my favourite images were from my film days. Pure nostalgia.
